APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED FOR ADMISSION TO UDSM UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMMES FOR THE 2024/2025 ACADEMIC YEAR

Round-One Application Window is NOW OPEN:  July 15, 2024 - August 10, 2024

All requisite information and guidelines to assist in the application stages are provided from the respective Instructions tab. i.e. UNDERGRADUATE tab for those applying for Certificates, Diplomas and Bachelor Degree Programmes.

Applicants must register their names as they appear in Ordinary Certificate of Secondary Education (CSEE) and Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (ACSEE) including index numbers when prompted.

Undergraduate applicants with foreign certificates are required to first present their certificates to the National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) for verification at: www.necta.go.tz. NECTA will issue them letters showing equivalence numbers and grades. Applicants with equivalent qualifications (e.g. holders of diplomas and certificates) are advised to obtain an award verification number (AVN) from the National Council for Technical Education (NACTVET) at www.nactvet.go.tz.

NOTE:  WE WILL COMMUNICATE WITH YOU USING THE EMAIL ADDRESS AND PHONE NUMBER THAT YOU HAVE PROVIDED DURING APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION TO UDSM PROGRAMMES. PLEASE SAVE THE DETAILS FOR FUTURE CORRESPONDENCE.

UNDERGRADUATE APPLICATIONS FOR NACTVET PROGRAMS ARE CURRENTLY ACTIVE


POSTGRADUATE APPLICATIONS :

The University of Dar es Salaam invites applications for admission into its postgraduate programmes for the 2024/2025

Academic Year 2024/2025:

  • October intake  - First Batch 31st , May 2024
  • October Intake - Second Batch 31st , October 2024

KINDLY NOTE:

  • Occasional mode of delivery lasts for 1 semester
  • Short term mode of delivery lasts for 12 months (1 year)
  • Sandwich < 1 year

Occasional, short term and sandwich students. This is for special group of postgraduate students applying to study for a short period of time ranging from one semester to full year and not permanently registered at UDSM.

Deadline:Candidate may apply throughout the year specifying the
period ought to spend at the University.

Successful applicants will be notified within four weeks after closing dates of the Applications.

Instructions on how to apply for various Undergraduate programmes at UDSM

All applications are processed through the Online Admission System (UDSM-OLAS) at https://admission.udsm.ac.tz. All application procedures are available from the online system accessible through the website at https://www.udsm.ac.tz.

All degree (direct and equivalent qualifications) and non-degree applicants will have to apply through the UDSM-OLAS.

Admission account

After loading the admission page on the UDSM-OLAS at https://admission.udsm.ac.tz please follow the steps below:

The admission page has the following features:

HOME:   UNDERGRADUATE:        POSTGRADUATE:               LOGIN

Click the UNDERGRADUATE tab where you will find tabs for INSTRUCTONS and REGISTRATION.

Please read the instructions carefully on how to apply for various Undergraduate Programmes at UDSM.

Then go to the REGISTRATION tab to open your admission account. To register for an account in the UDSM-OLAS you will need to provide the following details:

First name

Surname

(Note: Names as they appear in your form four certificate)

Email Address

Mobile Telephone Number

To finalize registration you will need to put in a password of your choice that you will use whenever you wish to log into the UDSM-OLAS.

Fill in the characters Captcha as displayed on the page (i.e. blue characters)

Then click the REGISTER AS UNDERGRADUATE button to create an account.

If you have successfully registered an account, the system will send an email to a specified email address. Please login into your email account to activate your admission account. Then use the link sent into your email to login into the UDSM-OLAS.

Note: Your username is your email address and Your Password is the password you had provided when creating your account.

Application fee payment: Tanzanians

When you are logged into your account you will find notification that your account is successfully activated (please open the notification)

Click at My Application button to start application

You will be presented with four [4] steps to finish the application

Step 1: My profile

Chose application category:

Write names as they appear in your Secondary Certificates

Sex, Country of Citizenship and Disability Type if any

Step 2: Payment of application fee

Tanzanian applicants must generate a payment reference number (control number) through the UDSM-OLAS as described below. Non-refundable application fee is TZS 10,000/= for Tanzanians. Foreign applicants may pay through banks (please refer section 4.3) or generate a control numbers if you are based in Tanzania and pay the application fee as described below:

Use the reference number shown to pay application fee by using mobile money services i.e. Mpesa, Tigo Pesa, Airtel Money etc.

Application Fee Payment Details:

For those with Vodacom Numbers:

Open your M-pesa by dialling *150*00#

Then choose 4 LIPA kwa M-Pesa

Then choose 5 Malipo ya Serikali

The Reference number/namba ya malipo: take from your Admission system account at the make payment button,

The reference number will be shown in red colour:

e.g. Reference no 99143XXXXXXX

For those with Tigo Numbers:

Open your Tigo-Pesa Number dialling *150*01#

Then choose 4 LIPA Bili, PAY bill

Then choose 5 Malipo ya Serikali

The Reference number/namba ya malipo: take from your Admission system account at the make payment button,

The reference number will be shown in red colour:

e.g. Reference no 99143XXXXXX

For those with Airtel Number:

Airtel Money Number dialling *150*60#

Then choose 5 Lipia Bili, PAY bill

Then choose 5 Malipo ya Serikali

The Reference number/namba ya malipo: take from your Admission system account at the make payment button,

The reference number is shown in red colour:

e.g. Reference no: 99143XXXXXXX

After payment, the system will automatically update and allow you to proceed to step 3.

Step 3: ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS

For Direct Entry applicants with both form IV and VI results from NECTA

Choose level, add index number and year of completion 

E.g: Index no: S0110/0092/2014 level: O-LEVEL

Then click add sitting

E.g. Index no: S0110/0088/2017 level: A-LEVEL

Then click add sitting

If you have multiple sittings then you can add all the sittings that you wish to be considered in the selection process.

For Equivalent applicants with form IV results from NECTA

Choose level, add index number and year of completion 

Then upload your Diploma certificates in the system in PDF format

For applicants with foreign certificates, should acquire equivalence number from NECTA

Choose level, add equivalence number and year of completion 

Step 4: PROGRAMME CHOICES

You are allowed to choose a minimum of three (3) and a maximum of fifteen (15) programmes.

Once the admission process is complete, you will be informed through your specified email address about the status of your application. It is your responsibility to confirm your acceptance to join the University of Dar es Salaam. The confirmation process is also specified in the UDSM-OAS for those who will decide to accept the offer of admission to the University of Dar es Salaam. Failure to confirm will imply that you have not accepted the offer and the slot will be made available to other applicants.

Applicants based Abroad

Applicants must ascertain themselves that they possess the minimum entry qualifications before paying application fee, which is non-refundable. Application fee for foreign students is USD 10 (ten US Dollars only).

International applicants shall pay their application fees upon arrival at the University of Dar es Salaam

Undergraduate Non-Degree Programmes

Like the undergraduate degree programmes, all University of Dar es Salaam undergraduate non-degree programmes are advertised in the local media (newspapers) and on the University website.

All applications should be submitted through the UDSM-OLAS for all non-degree programmes and the procedures for paying application fee

Postgraduate » INSTRUCTIONS

Instructions on how to apply for various postgraduate programmes (Masters programmes,Postgraduate programmes and PHD) at UDSM


NEW APPLICANTS

STAGE 1: REGISTRATION FOR AN ADMISSION ACCOUNT:

Register for an account in our system by clicking REGISTRATION button at the POSTGRADUATE tab
     

Note: In order to register for an account in the admission system you will need to provide the following details:

  • First name
  • Surname
  • Email Address
  • Mobile Telephone Number
  • To finalize registration you will need to put in a password of your choice that you will use whenever you wish to log into the admission system.
  • And lastly fill in the characters captcha as will be shown in the page, i.e. Captcha then click register button at the bottom to register for an account.  

If you are successfully registered, then the system will send you an email. Please log into your email account and use the link sent into your email to activate your admission account.

  • Note: at this stage. Your username is: your email address

                                            Your Password is:   the password you supplied

STAGE 2: MAKE APPLICATION:

  1. When you are successfully logged into your account you will find notification that your account is successfully activated (please open the notification)
  2. Click at    My Application button to start application
  3. You will be presented with four[8] steps to finish the application

              Step 1: MY PROFILE   

  1. Chose application category:
  2. Write names as they appear in your academic certificates
  3. sex, Country of Citizenship and Disability Type if any

              Step 2: APPLICATION FEE PAYMENT

  • Non-refundable Application Fee is :
    1. Local Students:  TZS. 50,000.00 (Fifty Thousand only) 
    2. Foreign Students USD. 50.00  (Fifty US Dollar only) 

Use the reference number shown to pay application fee by using mobile money services ie. Mpesa, Tigo Pesa, Airtel Money for Local Students.  Foreign Students application fee is payable using the SWIFT code: NLCBTZTX through A/C Number: 012105005554, University of Dar es Salaam,  NBC Bank, Samora Branch.  

 

 Payment procedures of application fee for local students using mobile money services are detailed below:  

  • Vodacom Number
    1.  Open your mpesa by dialling *150*00#
    2. Then choose 4: Pay by M-Pesa (Lipa kwa Mpesa)
    3. Then choose 5: Government Payment (Malipo ya Serikali)
    4. Then choose 1: Reference Number (Weka namba ya kumbukumbu)
    5.  Enter the Reference number( Ingiza number ya kumbukumbu ya malipo): 99143XXXXXX

         NB: Reference number should be taken from your admission system account at ‘the make payment’ button which is shown in red colour: eg. Reference no  99143XXXXXX

  • Tigo Number
    1. Open your Tigo-Pesa Number dialling *150*01#
    2. Choose 4: PAY bill/(LIPA Bili,)
    3. Choose 5: Malipo ya Serikali
    4. Enter Reference number/(Tafadhali ingiza namba ya malipo): 99143XXXXXX

NB: Reference number should be taken from your admission system account at ‘the make payment’ button which is shown in red colour: eg. Reference no 99143XXXXXX

  •  Airtel Number
    • Airtel Money Number dialling *150*60#
    • Choose 5: (Lipia bili)
    • Choose 5: Malipo ya Serikali
    • Enter Reference number/Namba ya kumbukumbu ya malipo: 99143XXXXXX

NB: Reference number should be taken from your admission system account at ‘the make payment’ button which is shown in red colour: eg. Reference no 99143XXXXXX

After payment, the system will automatically update and allow you to proceed to step3

Step 3: ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION

  1. Select College/School
  2. Select intake
  3. Then select Programme that you wish to apply at that intake
  4. Then select Programme category
  5. Then select Delivery Mode
  6. Then select Sponsorship Type
  7. Then tick in the appropriate box on ‘How did you find out about the Postgraduate Programmes at the University of Dar es salaam?’

Step 4: EMPLOYMENT RECORDS

  • Click ‘Add’ button to complete employment records

Step 5: QUALIFICATION

            Click ‘add your academic records button to fill in the appropriate academic records

Step 6: REFEREES

  • Click ‘add referees’ button to fill information of  the two (2) referees required
  • Then select ‘create’

Step 7: DOCUMENTS

  • Click ‘upload attachments’ button to select and upload appropriate documents

 

Step 8: SUBMISSION AND DECLARATION
